Graeagle - September '23

return to mdimage index

In mid-September, four of us stayed at Graeagle, Ca., at 6,500 ft., and enjoyed three days of hiking in the area. We rented two 2 br. cabins at Graeagle Meadows, for 4 nights. The one I shared with Kathy & John had a view across the town's small lake. Jean's cabin was a 5 minute drive away.

Graeagle is a tiny mountain town in a vast pine forest, primarily a golfing destination. In the 1870s this was an active gold mining area.

The handful of buildings & houses in the old town are painted red w/white trim.

walk one - Grass Lake

walk two - Bear Lakes & Round Lakes Loop

walk three - Long Lake & Grassy Lake

Eastern Sierra trips - history note - This trip to Graeagle originally had Rich and Linda attending & thus was a continuation of our fall trip tradition, but '22 was the last of the full East Sierra group trips.

Jean kept some form of the tradition going with a group staying at Tahoe Donner in '24 and a Lassen visit in fall '25.
