Colorado Springs - April '25  - Wednesday & Thursday

return to index

On Wednesday April 23, I flew to Colorado Springs for a family reunion, with most of us staying staying 3 or 4 nights. Doris & Mary (and Roger) live here, while Don lives in Las Cruces and Theresa in Scottsdale.

Don's older sons Pat & Chris were visiting from Austin, and Tom lives in the Springs. All four are good musicians.

Once landed at the hotel, I walked across the street to have a meal with Doris, Mary, Roger, and Pat.

Around 7 pm we saw Tom and Pat perform on acoustic guitars at an old pub in Colorado City.

In the next to last image, the Corgi's attention was drawn to Tom's howling song.

On Thursday morning I slept in and then got a few grocery items nearby. Around 1 pm Mary and Pat and I walked in the Garden of the Gods area.

For part of the walk Pat was asking Mary and I about our past histories, connecting the dots to what he already knew.

That night, dinner was at Doris' home and Don and Theresa had arrived. With Tom and gf Heather and his kids, it was a good-sized bunch. We took it easy, with no attempts at a group photo; it was time to talk for all of us.

From Doris' patio, we watched as daylight faded on Pike's Peak, partially snow-covered. At first it was wind-free & pleasant outside, but once dark, the wind gusted and the temp. rapidly dropped, and the fireplace warmth vanished. At 6,500 ft. elevation, this is no big surprise.

note - There was an east-coast type Lilac tree out back, about to bloom, but its much-admired fragrance was barely detectable. A few warm days will change that, I'm sure.
